SAA Kidsport Swimathon Fundraiser - Results!

A huge thank you to everyone who came to participate and support the SAA Kidsport Swimathon Fundraiser. The event raised $2046.30 for Kidsport's Richmond Chapter.   Special thank you to Jimmy Chong, Colin McKay and my parents for pledging me. In the end I swam 1000m and helped some of the club members perfect their flip turns during the 30 minute time.   After the swim, I managed to get the winning bid on a hotel stay and a Nike running shirt in the silent auction.   Looking forward to next year and the 2nd Annual SAA Kidsport Swimathon Fundraiser. Here is a link to a story about the event.

Swimathon for Kidsport Richmond

On February 8, 2013 I will be participating in a Swimathon to help raise funds for Kidsport Richmond.   I will have 30 minutes in a 25 metre pool to swim as many lengths as I can.   How many lengths do you think I can swim in 30 minutes?   Not familiar with Kidsport?  Well here is their mission statement: "We believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport™ provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport" And some information from their website: "KidSport™ Canada is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. Through a confidential application process we provide grants so they can play a season of sport. One of our primary goals is to support our network of 11 pro...

It's January, Let's Complain About the Weather

Seriously??!!  This is what I have to look forward to for the next 5 days in the forecast?  Agh!  This morning I got up and it was raining so I did my trainer ride thinking it would stop raining at some point today.  Well, it is now almost 5:30pm, dark and STILL RAINING!  Like build an ark raining.   At least Thursday looks like it might be an dry day to commute to work on my bike.  Cold and dry I can handle.  Cold and raining is down right miserable.   But wait, it gets better.  Saturday there is a chance so snow AND rain.   For any US readers out there,  these temperatures are in Celsius  so they are not quite as bad as you are thinking  but it is really wet.

Happy New Year!

Ok, I know it is January 7th, so I am a little late with the Happy New Year.  I also haven't posted in a while so I am late with that also. True to my word, I did not make any New Year's Resolutions for 2013.  This is not to suggest that I couldn't improve, correct or simply change a few things.  We all can.  I just didn't want to make a big grandiose statement for 2013.  Just live the best way I can everyday. I do have some exciting news though.  In December 2012, I launched  337Multisport .  I already have clients training to improve their half marathon times and one who is training for her very first marathon. I am so excited to be part of their journey. Over the holidays, I managed to keep up most of my training.  Even celebrated Christmas day with a 40km bike ride outside and New Year's Day with a 7km run.  I enjoyed more than my share of holiday treats and didn't feel one bit guilty about it. Now it is time to get back t...

2012 Resolutions In Review

I know that 2012 is not yet over but I took the time to look back at my December 2011 post and review my Resolutions for 2012.   Here is a link to the post. Race Calendar 2013

Have you planned or even thought about your 2013 racing season?  I have always been someone who planned my life at least a year in advance.  Iron distance triathlon doesn't leave you much time to be spontaneous either.  Most events require you to train for a year let alone the fact you need to sign up for them a year in advance. So, here is what I have registered for in 2013.  In print and in real life, I have planned and #EPIC year! March 24, 2013 Olympic Distance Triathlon Lavaman Waikoloa, Big Island Hawaii   May 4, 2013 70.3 or Half Ironman Distance Triathlon St. George 70.3, St. George, Utah August 25, 2013 Iron Distance Triathlon Challenge Penticton Which races have you registered for in 2013? Pave Culture Cycliste - Barcelona Bike Shop

In March we took a family trip to Spain for spring break.  The primary reason for this trip was to attend football (soccer) matches in Madrid and Barcelona.  As a family, we researched this trip A LOT and found A LOT of very cool things to do in the cities we visited (Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona).  One of those cool things was a destination bike shop in Barcelona. We set aside one afternoon to head out to the shop.  Not having rented a car, we studied the train routes and schedules and determined it was about 30 mins outside of Barcelona in El Prat del Llobergat.   After missing our first train by about 2 minutes, we had to wait another 30 minutes for the next train.  This was the first of our missed connections and confusion for this journey.  Once we arrived at the train station closest to the shop, we still had about a 20 minute walk to the shop.  It is an industrial area so there were no taxis to be found.  The whole time we w...
