Hi, Remember Me?

Wow, has it really been August since I updated my blog?  Looks like it!

What have I been doing since August?

  • Well, I volunteered at Ironman Canada and signed up for IMC2011
  • Ran a PR 1/2 Marathon at the North Shore Half Marathon of 1:51:29
  • Ran a PR Marathon at the Rock N Roll Las Vegas Marathon of 4:16:35
  • Hired a new coach - Calvin Gehlen of Finish Line Coaching
  • Ran the Pacific Road Runners First Half Marathon (not a PR but a good early season run)

My training is right on track and going really well.  Knock on wood, I am fitting it all in.
This past weekend, I was on the Run Tri Chat podcast by Kelownagurl (Barb) chatting about my training this time around.  Click here to listen to the audio.

Loved the show with the 3 of you on it. :)

Pave Culture Cycliste - Barcelona Bike Shop

In March we took a family trip to Spain for spring break.  The primary reason for this trip was to attend football (soccer) matches in Madrid and Barcelona.  As a family, we researched this trip A LOT and found A LOT of very cool things to do in the cities we visited (Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona).  One of those cool things was a destination bike shop in Barcelona.

We set aside one afternoon to head out to the shop.  Not having rented a car, we studied the train routes and schedules and determined it was about 30 mins outside of Barcelona in El Prat del Llobergat.

After missing our first train by about 2 minutes, we had to wait another 30 minutes for the next train.  This was the first of our missed connections and confusion for this journey.  Once we arrived at the train station closest to the shop, we still had about a 20 minute walk to the shop.  It is an industrial area so there were no taxis to be found.  The whole time we were travelling to the shop, I was secretly worried tha…

In early February, I bought a season's pass to Grouse Mountain.  I have owned a pass in the past but not in for a few years.  My main goal was to get up on Monday and/or Wednesday nights for the Social Snowshoe.  90 minutes snowshoeing up the Snowshoe Grind and over the back side of Dam Mountain.  Headlamps required.

Yes, these are terrible photos.  I only took photos this one time.  I realized that the iPhone will not take good photos in these conditions and you miss the actual moment trying to get a good photo.
In addition to Grouse, I have been up to Cypress Mountain Nordic area two times this season
